They mean the exact same thing, but you would not use "don't" or other similar contractions in formal writing.

English speakers like to make it shorter and shorter. Do not go crazy with it. You will come across forms like "yo're" instead of "you are" or "this n' that" instead of "this and that" - people consider it wrong and uneducated. "Don't" is acceptable.
