What's the meaning of "tired" in this sentence? The house was across the street. The women stood like tired caryatids on the porch, each one leaning against one or another of several warped and peeling columns. What's the meaning of "tired" in the second sentence? I don't think it means the same of "tired" in "I feel tired". Thanks!

It is pretty much the same. The tired here eludes more to "worn out" though. Caryatids are ancient sculptures that have been holding structures up for a very long time. He's trying to give the image of extreme fatigue.
