Could someone explain this expression to me? "The newly appointed heir apparent of Williams F1 is adamant that under her leadership, the male-dominated motorsport will become fully open and attractive to girls as it is boys." I can't understand the "heir apparent of Williams F1 " part. I've found it in an article of the Telegraph. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/womens-life/10140354/Claire-Williams-Formula-One-How-rude-that-people-keep-asking-me-when-Ill-get-pregnant.html?placement=mid2

An heir apparent is someone who has been chosen to take the place of somebody else at some future time.
