(This part is most confusing here, 它太多为圆柱形, also更为)

2. Qin pole. The Qin pole is the trunk of the instrument . Many are cylindrical, but now there are also elliptic cylindrical shaped ones which are more suitable for children.

There are two types of skins could be used in building an Erhu, the python skin and the snake skin,  it is one of the major sound-generating componets of a Qin, and it holds a key to the performance of  an Erhu, and decisively effect the quality & volume of the sound.

Qin pole is the trunk of the instrument, mostly comes in the shape of a cylinder, however, there're also elliptic ones, which especially suitable for Children.

2.第二句改为-------琴杆：是琴的躯干。大多数琴杆为圆柱形，但是为了更适合儿童演奏，现在也有了椭圆柱形的琴杆。
"Many are cylindrical":it means "Many kinds of Qin pole's shape are cylindrical"
"太多"改为：“大多”。“太多”means “many”,"大多"means “mostly”
also:也，Just like the sentence:现在"也"有了椭圆柱形的琴杆

Answer

1. It is obvious that a mistake is made in the Chinese sentence 音质和优劣. And it should be  "的" instead of  "和" . 
    And even though,  your translation is correct.

2. Also, "太多" should be "大多".  “更为” is translated into "more" by you, my friend, which is correct. 
    
 P.S Where did you read these sentences ?  They made loads of mistakes, and no doubt they are confusing and ambiguous to you.
