I'm heading home
I'm headed home

Heading implies "right now", where headed gives you flexibility on time. But both are correct

I'm heading home ( right now )
I'm heading for a meeting right now.
I'm headed home ( maybe now, maybe hours later)
I'm headed to London ( today? tomorrow? or in a couple of days)
