add more :
Eu fui ao colégio - I was at school. (Fui used to first person in singular )
Ele/Ela foi ao médico - He/She was to doctor (foi used to third peson in singular)
Você foi viajar ontem. You were travel yesterday .( used foi in Você too)

when you are talking about I, you use fui
when you are talking about he,she,it or you, you use foi
