so far does thus far and so far have the same meaning?which one is more common? should I use both of the two phrases above with present perfect? eg: I have completed part of my homeowrk thus far/so far. Thank you!

They mean the same thing and can be used interchangeably. "Thus far" is a little more formal, so "so far" would usually be more common. They are properly used with a more definite idea. For example, "I've finished about half my homework so far." (Not just "some.")
