near & nearby When to use either of them? Is it correct to say: I need a supermarket near.?

Near is a preposition eg Near here. Near the school. Near your house. Nearby is an adverb, so it can stand alone. So you'd say either 'Is there a supermarket near here? or 'Is there a supermarket nearby?

You can say: I need a supermaket nearby.
