The words in these phrases just have their usual meaning, as in
"There is some way to solve the puzzle but I do not know what it is."
=> "There is a solution to the puzzle, but .... "
"In some ways my cousin behaves as I do."
=> "Some of my cousin's actions are similar to mine."
