What's the meaning of 하였으나?
Hi everyone,
In an article about capitalism that I'm reading, I've found the following sentence:
고대에 이미 일부 자본주의적 특징을 보이는 조직이 존재하였으며 중세 말에는 상업 자본이 발달하기도 하였으나
What does . . .하였으나 means? (maybe: Although it was . . .)?

하였으나 is composed of
하(다) + 였 + 으나
하다 means "do"
였 is a past tense particle
으나 is a connection particle which means "yet, still, though, although"
하였으나 means "although it did something"
발달하기도 하였으나 means "although it also developed"

~하였으나. this expression is usually used in newspaper, book..etc, rarely used in speaking.
which means although(you're right.),though,but....etc
