a word in a sentence "The people living there hadn't looked after it,despite them having all the inventions and space ships you could ever need."why is there a"them"in this sentence? I think it should be a "their"or nohting

"Them" refers to "The people" earlier in the sentence. Them is a second person pronoun to talk about more than one person

Them works, but you could have nothing, or have their as well. Them refrences the people who have it. Their shows the possesion of it. I personally think their sounds better.
