The video is about how to create a hero story.When the hero crosses the threshold from his normal,safe home and entered the special world and adventure, the author said "We are not in Kansas anymore."Does it mean the author is from Kansas or something else?

That is a "catch-phrase" from the movie "The Wizard of Oz". In the movie, when the main character goes to the magical land of "Oz" she says that. It's a very famous and well known movie in the English speaking world. Usually, that phrase is said when a character goes someplace that is new or different. :D
