a) means you are not supposed "to share" your code with anybody. If you have a code then you alone are supposed to use it. You can't let your mother use your code. "teilen" means "to share". b) means you are not supposed to tell anybody your code. Only you should know it. That's important if it's a code for your bank account for example. "mitteilen" means "to tell" or "to disclose" something to somebody.

Hier ist mitteilen richtig. mitteilen: to tell teilen: to divide / share: Ich habe einen Apfel. Möchtest du auch etwas essen? Wir können uns den Apfel teilen. Peter, Max und Marc sind Studenten. Sie leben in einer Wohnung. Jeder hat ein Zimmer, aber sie teilen das Badezimmer und die Küche ( > to share).
