in regard to "only" I just now contacted the supplier, he said the material didn't arrive until Friday morning. Can I use "only" to change the above sentence and hold the same meaning, as follows: The material only arrive on Friday morning. or The material will arrive only Friday morning.

You can say 'The material only ARRIVED on Friday morning' to mean that it arrived on Friday, later than expected. It should have arrived earlier in the week. It is less common, and possibly ambiguous, to use this construction in a future context. For the future, it would be better to use a 'not until' phrase, for example, 'The material won't arrive until Friday'.
