Is this 'CB1 2DY' a code of the UK? Is this 'CB1 2DY' a code of the UK? If so, what does it mean?

It is a postcode. Each part of the country has a particular code, for the purpose of directions and address identification. So when we write the address of a letter, we write the street and house number, then the town, the county, and finally the postcode. Google tells me that address is in Cambridge.

It's an address in central Cambridge in the UK. CB means Cambridge, the '1' tells you that it's the city centre. The rest narrows it down to a street or a few blocks.

Hi Charles. If you want to address the package, you would write the address like this: PETER SMITH 32 TENISON AVENUE CAMBRIDGE CB1 2DY UK The 2DY doesn't have any meaning. It is just part of the code. The streets around Tenison Avenue probably have similar codes ( for example, CB1 2DX or CB1 2DZ). Then the further you get from this area, the more different the code will look. For example, the organisation I work for is about a ten-minute walk away from Tenison Avenue and its postcode is CB1 2EU - we're still in the CB1 2 zone, but the first letter after the 2 is an E. It's just a general indication of the area. Everywhere in the UK has a postcode like this - it simply makes it easier to sort and deliver the post.
