what is the meaning of better off and worse off. Examples please :)

"better off" means you are in a better situation than before
For example "You are better off moving to a bigger house"
"worse off" is the opposite, it means your situation has changed and is worse than before.
For example "Now my new car has broken down I am worse off than before I bought it".
