You already corrected your spelling, and "wether" is a very obscure word--but it is a real word. Many native speakers would not know it unless they were farmers. A "wether" is a castrated sheep. There is also a word "bellwether" which is fairly common. It was customary for flocks of sheep to have a leader who was usually a wether, and wore a bell around his neck.
