Some significa algunos/algunas, refiere una cantidad indefinida (cierto número de...) Any se utiliza en las sentencias negativas o cuando quieres hacer alguna pregunta. Por ejemplo: I have some money / Tengo algo de dinero I have SOMEthing to tell you - Tengo que decirte ALGO Do you have ANY questions for me? - ¿Tienes algúna pregunta para mí? There are some boxes at the table. - Hay UNAS cajas en la mesa. I do not have ANYthng else to tell you - No tengo nada más para contarte I do not have ANY pencil - No tengo ningún lápiz. Some means 'a few'. Ex. "I have a few dogs." Any is more or less saying 'whichever one'. Ex. "I don't have any. Any one you want. They didn't have any of what we wanted". Sorry, "any" is hard to explain :( But I hope I helped a little bit!
