Difference between Lead and Leading
Sometimes, I hear people say
He's a lead programmer.
Sometimes, people say
We're a leading company in this industry.
What's the difference between lead and leading? Are they interchangeable?

They have different meanings.
"Lead programmer" means the programmer who is "in charge", with the responsibility of making sure the team is producing what it needs to. It is similar to "senior programmer" in many ways.
A "leading company" means it is one of the most important companies in its industry.. It is not in charge of the other companies, but is advanced in some way.
