Não basement, que significa subsolo. É pra uma licenciatura ou PhD? Eu concordo com Michael: theoretical foundation

I know some Spanish but not Portuguese. It could be "theoretical foundation". This is a common collocation e.g.
"The author provided a strong theoretical foundation for his new proposals."
