What does it mean "trending beforehand"? I didn't find information in my dictionary. Is it "pre-sale"?

Some context would be helpful, but here's a rough idea. "To trend" means to follow some pattern, up or down. "Beforehand" mrpeans simply "before" So to "trend beforehand" might be used like this: Now the supply is limited, but the price was trending upward beforehand anyway.
