("Thank you for your approval") 友だちになってくれてありがとう tomodachi ni natte kurete arigato. ("Thank you for becoming my friend") or in a politer style, 友だちになってくださってありがとうございますtomodachi ni natte kudasatte arigato gozaimasu.
