1: is not quite right. By saying 'the' you are suggesting there is one universal thing. You probably should limit it, with something like 'in your country' or 'at your house'. 5: sing, not sign. 9: Merry Christmas is a greeting, not a thing. Leave out the 'Merry'. 10: Same as 1 (the). 11: singing carols, not 'signing corals'. (Although that is an amusing image!) Perhaps 'who do you give gifts to?' or 'do you have any non-traditional christmas traditions where you live?'.

A good first question would be "do you celebrate Christmas" - if the answer is 'no' then there is no point asking the other questions! There are plenty of native English speakers who do not celebrate Christmas - they could be Hindus, Muslims, Jews, or atheists.

I agree with Hilary; you should be careful about this, and you should be ready with some questions about Hanukkah, and perhaps Kwanzaa. "On what day do you celebrate Christmas?" (Probably 99% of the people you ask will say "December 25th," but in Boston, for example, there are many immigrants from Russia and other places that celebrate Slavic Christmas on January 7th." "Do you have a Christmas tree?" "What are your favorite ornaments on your tree?" This last one is good because many people have acquired ornaments over the year and many people will have memories or family stories about them. "Do you think people spend too much money at Christmas?" "Do you really like fruitcake?" (This one will get strong reactions). "What do you call the jolly man in the red suit who brings gifts?" In the U.S., "Santa Claus;" in the UK, I think they call him "Father Christmas;" and there may be others). "Did your parents tell you Santa Claus was real? When did you find out he isn't real? How did you feel about it? What should parents tell their children about Santa Claus?" "Have you ever kissed anyone under the mistletoe?" (I certainly never have, everyone says it's a custom but I've never actually seen anybody do it). "What are your favorite Christmas movies?" (For me, "A Christmas Story." For some, "Miracle on 34th Street" or "It's a Wonderful Life.")

For Hanukkah, an amusing question might be "How do you spell 'Hanukkah?'" You can probably get _at least_ five different answers.
