Go to my head I don´t know if I am riight in the meaning of the following sentence.Could you confirm or correct it ? "Waiters dashed everywhere...It was quite extraordinary.As I stood there I tried to remember where I was.I was Impressed. It all rather went to my head.I,m not usually much of one for lunch , but the food smelled so wonderful that I found myself oredering like a kning" I imagine , " it all rather went to my head " means he changed his mind that time, but does it make sense? Dictionaries say it means : to feel conceited???? Thanks

go to his head > to be conceited or feeling too proud of something that you have or done and made behaved conceitedly or too proudly . Winning the lottery must have gone to his dead since he rejected all his old friends after winning it.

Have a look at this : http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/go+to+head There are two possible meanings. The one which other commenters have mentioned is, in my view, not the correct one. The other one is "intoxicating". He is saying that he was overwhelmed by how wonderful the environment was. He did not behave normally and sensibly and ordered a lot of food. This was because he was so happy, a bit like when someone is drunk.

it all rather went to my head if a person has had a success in something he can become "certain" of his ability and over-confident in that ability. look up "hubris"
