What's the most common way to say, "I wanted to make sure that"? For example, "I wanted to make sure that you received my email." "Eu queria assegurar que recebeu o meu email"???

Hi Jared, In portuguese the word "assegurar" is used in formal conversation. If you are talking with a friend, you can use "certeza" or "confirmar", these two words has the same meaning. I hope that you have understood better the frase.

Hi. So, in brazilian portuguese the word "assegurar" is not so common in daily use. It is very formal. As the guys before me said, you can use the verb "confirmar" or the expression "ter certeza que". This second one is more literal, since "sure" is an equivalent form of "certeza". But the first is more often used in this case. So, I could say... Eu queria confirmar se você entendeu. ;) Good learning.

I wanted to make sure that you received my email. Eu queria "ter a certeza" de que você recebeu meu email.

O verbo assegurar é um pouco complicado para quem não estuda gramatica (Eu sou um desses). Tive que pesquisar aqui. "Eu queria me assegurar que você recebeu o meu e-mail." "Eu queria ter certeza que você recebeu o meu e-mail."

Pode ser também: "Eu queria confirmar que você recebeu meu e-mail". :)
