Lovely means beautiful, lovable means easy to love and is used only for persons.

I believe that both lovable and lovely are adjectives that deal with appearance. Lovely, however, is mostly used to say how someone or something is beautiful. Lovable is often used to describe a cute or appealing person, but rarely used on inanimate objects. Hopefully this makes sense.

Lovely can be used for both people and objects, whereas loveable is generally used in reference to a person or animal.

The dictionary should clearly explain the difference in these two words. Did you try that first? The meanings are totally different. lovely = pretty lovable = able to be loved.

lovely >full of love. lovable > can be loved. Eg. As lovely as she looks to you guys, I think she is not lovable since I know well she is not a sincere person.
