在这个句子里“将”的意思是什么？

我正在做着语法练习，有一个句子我不懂。
在这个练习中，要挑选一个正确的选项。
老师___报纸发给大家作报刊课的教材。

据课文，正确的选项就是 B。 所以我有两个问题：
1) 这个句子的意思是什么？用英语怎么说？（也可以用汉语解释）
2）"将"的意思是什么？我知道这是多义词，但是这儿用的是哪一种？
