The meaning of "별"?
I know 별 means star, but I saw it in this sentence:
그들은 별 관심이 없었다. They weren't interested.
What does 별 mean here?

별 is a word that can be used in negative sentence and translated as "not really"
그들은 별 관심이 없었다
They weren't (really) interested

In that case, 별 means specially. And it is not using as noun this time.
So 별 emphasize that 그들은 관심이 없었다.
