Hi,would anyone help me with this sentence?
One task this domesticated automaton will not have to contend with will be scouring the oven because
even today the newest ranges can be "programed" to reduce their own baked-on grime to easily disposed of ashes.

The sample is correct but clumsy in its description in places. The verb "program" is common in American English in all uses, and in British English when referring to computers. "Domesticated" can be used in the humorous sense to mean things or people that have been surprisingly tamed. The last part can take hyphenation to make more sense, e.g. "...to reduce their own baked-on grime to easily-disposed-of ashes" although Andrew's suggestion is much less clumsy stylistically.

It is a domestic rather than 'domesticated,' automaton.
There are two ms in 'programmed.'
The final sentence should say '....reduce their own baked-on grime, thus making it easy to dispose of ashes.'

Sure.
Thank you for your kind helping.

Okay, well try another book because this book uses incorrect English.
The sentence is talking about a robot that has been designed to clean a house. It is saying that ovens can be told (electronically) to clean themselves so the robot would not have to spend a long time scrubbing the oven.
