what's the difference among adequate,enough and sufficient?

In the context of the following sentence, the three terms mean the same thing: "Did you have enough/sufficient/adequate water?" In each case somebody is being asked whether they had enough water to drink to avoid being very thirsty. The word "adequate," has the overall meaning of being "okay." "His performance was adequate," means that, whilst he certainly did not perform brilliantly, his performance was not terrible.
