Should I be nervous? I am currently learning Japanese and I have been confident and happy with that so far. My idea of learning and liking to learn Japanese hasn't changed; I still like it. I just get nervous and worried when talking to native Japanese people, because I might pronounce something wrong or sound bad etc. My question is: Should I be afraid and nervous while speaking my Japanese language partners or not? Please let me know. Your advice and support will help me a lot.

Hi what's up , Katherine? If you pronounce Japanese badly , we can't understand what your saying. Then we will ask you "what did you say ?". This is the thing we will do. Never mind, you are on the way to learn Japanese. We are understanding your situation. Tension enhances memory. Please enjoy nervousness. If your language partner can speak English , it will help you a lot. Takanori

Hi. I'm learning japanese as well, like you, - but english too. As for me, my pronunciation in english is very bad, and I like when people correct me, even if I feel uncomfortably because of that. Sometimes I get nervous, and I start to be afraid to speak even simply words out. But I take a deep breath, and that's all. My opinion, don't pay too much attention what others saying, only when it's worth for it. I mean grammar, and all. Pronanciation will be improve itself, when you use the language with native speakers. In the other hand, don't forget that Japanese are really polite and touchy. So, don't be afraid. ;)

I can't pronounce English well but I don't worry about that. Because English is my second language. Not speaking well is natural. If someone says rudely my English pronunciation is bad, I won't talk with the person. He/she isn't the right person to listen to me.

I shouldn't worry if I were you. They know you are learning the language, so they won't expect you to pronounce everything right. I wouldn't expect it.

You don't have to be afraid of making a mistake while practicing Japanese. I suggest you to keep in mind how you made a mistake.
