When you say "black cat", you're depending on the listener to know that "black" is a color. If the listener knows that, then you've successfully communicated the concept "black-colored cat". Note, though, that "black cat" is an incomplete thought, and (to repeat myself) you're depending on the listener filling in the missing info. The cat's height or weight is not "black". The cat's name is not "black". Its color is black. That one's easy to puzzle out (!), but other cases are less easy. "This cat is 5 pounds" would be ambiguous in the UK. Are you talking about its weight or its price? "black-colored cat" - this is a complete thought. But sounds less natural than "black cat", since 99.999% of people would opt for the easier option; the one that needs the listener to have some wisdom. And that's a very common option amonng English speakers (depending on the listener's experience and context). "black color cat". This is not English. "The cat it's also black" => "The cat: it's also black". You need the colon there for that to be English. It means either "as well as the other thing I said about the cat, it is also black in color" OR "as well as the other thing that I said was black, the cat is black, too". "The cat is also black" - this means the same thing as "the cat: it's also black". Hope that helps!

1. "black cat" is 100% correct. "black color cat" is 100% incorrect. You can say "the black-colored cat walked by" but it is redundant - we already know that "black" is a color ) 2. The cat "it's also" is incorrect - that stands for "the cat it is also black". "is also" is correct - the cat is the subject, the is the article describing the cat, also is an adverb describing the adjective "black".

Hi Gabriel, As "black" is already a colour, there is no necessity to use "colour" to describe the cat. Therefore, using "black cat" will suffice. "The cat it's also black" We use pronouns to repeat something about a noun that is introduced in a previous sentence. This is done so to avoid redundancy. Example: The cat is malnourished. It needs medical care. (The pronoun "it" replaces "the cat".) We can use them together provided a conjunction is used. Example: The cat is malnourished, and it needs medical care. Your sentence has both the noun and pronoun together without a conjunction, and is therefore incorrect. The other sentence: "The cat is also black." is correct although it should come after another sentence describing something black. Example: The dog is black. The cat is also black. Hope this helps. Cheers, Lance
