Is it possible to say "the latter" and "the latter ones" in this case with the same meaning? Some students think that we should study everyday, whereas others believe that is not necessary. Personally, I agree with the latter (ones), since it can be... Or adding "ones" turns the sentence redundant?

"the latter" is enough. "the latter ones" is not correct. But, it's weird to use "latter" in this context. I would advise u to simply say, "I personally think that it is not necessary to study everyday" :)
