to latch onto someone Hello, Does 'to latch onto someone' mean that I get close to someone in the sentence below? Could you clarify what it means? It is still vague to me. 'I latched onto him early on and made myself vital.' Appreciated!

"To latch on" means that you insert yourself into someone else's life and won't leave that person's life. In your example sentence, "latch on" means that the person inserted himself into the other person's life and make himself such an important part of the other person's life that the other person became dependent/reliant on the other person for certain things.
