Should be "Which guests ate cake?" or "Which of the guests ate cake?" (when you want to be more specific).
The answer to "Which guests" can be either singular or plural.
e.g. (Of all the guests) Only Jane ate cake or (Of all the guests) Only two guests ate cake.
And singular is spelled "singular".
