I have the following sentence:
My computer was acting up, so I took it a repair shop near my house and had it fixed.
Why don't we use 'to' following 'a repair shop'?

You need to use 'to' before 'a repair shop'
"My computer was acting up, so I took it to a repair shop near my house and had it fixed."
