What is the difference of "entschwinden" and "verschwinden"? What is the difference between entschwinden and verschwinden? As far as I know, they both mean "to disappear". Also, are there any other verbs that mean disappear, and when would you use them?Both words appear in the book "Der kleine Prinz". You're right, both mean to disappear. Entschwinden - is a rather bookish style. You might use it in a novel. In spoken language it is not common, unless you use it in a bit of an ironical way. There are loads of other possibilities to talk about "verschwinden" but as so often it depends on the context... Please give a few examples if you have something particular in mind.
