The best formula I have seen work so far is: 1 or 2 hours a week in a class room + 2 hours a week (minimum) with italki teacher/tutor + watch at least 1 hour a day of podcast or movie or tv, etc. It is a lot of work but worth it.

First of all, you should be passionate, fell in love with the target language. Find a way you can do this. Believe me, you are a "lucky duck", that is you live in the bast century of technology, you have access to the Internet. There are plenty of ways you can enjoy the language. Take your time, you may spend at least 2-3 years by having fun, NOT by studying! Listen to music, check on youtube's language channels (there are plenty of them), chat with new friends on Italki, work out in a classroom, or with italki teacher/tutor.
