think of it as a general positive affirmation that's also kind of fancy. For example: "Eagles can fly." "They can, indeed." ("they sure can".) "Do you like ravioli?" "Indeed I do!" ("hell yeah I do!") "Do you often wear a monocle and a top hat?" "Indeed." ("why yes.") "We sell all sorts of stuff in this store. Indeed, we even have dried grasshopper." I'd like to emphasize that "indeed" has a formal feel. It is slightly antiquated, like how an English butler would talk.

Hi Hassan, “Indeed” is what I will describe as an addition to sentences, where it serves one major purpose: emphasis. “I am grateful indeed” Here the speaker is not just grateful, but with emphasis on his gratitude. You can also use it to emphasise that something is true. An example: “Is he a great teacher? He is indeed (truly) a great teacher” If you master those, you should be able to use the word in its different contexts. You may also construct your own sentences to reinforce your understanding. Regards.

All of the above answers are correct, Hasan - I would just add that 'indeed' is also often used to add some extra information that either develops or supports what you have already said. EXAMPLES: Eating puffer fish can be dangerous - indeed it can kill you. We have nothing against employing foreign workers - indeed we hired three new foreign employees last month.

"indeed" is a rarely-used synonym of "yes".
