"I need to eat something" is correct. (Or you could say "I need something to eat"). "I need eating something" is incorrect. need + full infinitive (not verb+ing) I need TO DO that. She needs TO GO to the doctor's. They need TO TAKE that medicine. He needs TO FIND OUT about that course.
