The difference between chums and friends??

Friends is used much more widely in US English, while chum is similar to mate and is used much more in British English. They both have the same meaning of someone you have a close relationship to, non-romantically. "Chummy" is an adjective that means two people are very close. In US English, another equivalent of chum would be buddy.
