What is the difference between Thus and Hence?

"Hence" literally means "from here" or "from this point". There are also its archaic relatives "thence" and "whence?", but we really only use "hence" these days.
"Thus" means "as a result". Modern Dutch has a cognate: "dus".
There's some overlap in their meanings, so you might be able to use either.
