Can you help me understanding this sentence from Grendel ?
I have to study, analyze and translate to French "Grendel" written by John Gardner. However, there's a sentence I can't understand and I am struggling to translate it : "It is true, perhaps, that I feel some trifling dislike of deer, but no more dislike than I feel for other natural things-discounting men".
I don't get the "other natural things-discounting men" bit. Could you help me break down this word structure?

Trifiling dislike=minor dislike.
Natural things=everything made by nature.
Discounting men=not including men (probably mankind.) This means the writer has a greater dislike for men.

Easy - he does not like deer and other animals, maybe flowers too (citing: natural things), but he likes people (discounting - not counting - men). Got it now?
