Cuando vas a comprar a una tienda donde hay mucha gente esperando, por ejemplo una panadería o una frutería se dice "quien da la vez?" Que significa: quién es el último que está esperando para comprar y así sabes detrás de quien vas y tú serás la siguiente para pedir. It´s an old fashioned term to ask who is the last one in a waiting situation, a shop or a waiting room for the doctor, for example. So the person who asks knows that his/her turn is after the one who answer the question. Careful with the "tilde": Quién, not quíen.
