What are some important/essential phrases I should know?
I've been trying to learn Yoruba for a few days for a friend in Nigeria. What are some important or essential phrases or words I should know? How are people greeted?

firstly, you should know that Yorùbá is a tonal language with the "Do, Re, Mi" tone mark. When you want to greet a friend "good morning" you say "káàárọ̀" ("Mi Do Mi Do" tone mark).

There are lots of phrases to learn in Yoruba. I'll just lost a few for you to be able to ask how the person is doing.
How are you - Bawo ni
Good morning - Ekaaro
Good afternoon - Ekasan
Good evening - Ekale
Good night - Odaaro
Goodbye - Odaabo

Like good morning for an elderly person is ekaro and for a younger fellow or your mate is karo
