돕다 vs 도와주다
Could you please tell me the difference between the two. I know that 아어 주다 means the action is somehow beneficial to whoever it is being done for. How should I differentiate it from 돕다? Please give me some example sentences.

They have the same meaning and are often interchangeable.
도와주다 is preferred when referring to specific situations in everyday life.
- 나 좀 도와줘 / 한 경찰관이 길을 잃은 사람을 도와주었다. (specific)
- 이웃 간에 서로 돕는 것은 당연한 일이다 / 역사적으로 농사 일을 하려면 서로 도와야 했다. (general)

돕다 is the same as 도와주다 because 돕다 has the meaning of “for the sake of other”
