one thousand times of sorrow or one thousand sorrows Which one is correct? one thousand times of sorrow or one thousand sorrows? or both? If both are correct, are they interchangeable? Or they mean different? Thank you for the help.

I would probably say 'a thousand sorrows' There is a phrase which is often translated as 'one happiness scatters a thousand sorrows' in English. I think it is a quote from Buddha (perhaps?)

“One thousand times of sorrow” does not sound natural, and its meaning is not clear. “One thousand sorrows” sounds poetic, but could be grammatically correct, depending on how it is used. Example: “The people of Uganda suffered a thousand sorrows under the rule of Idi Amin.”

Hi I think both sound a little incorrect. Regards, Susan
