What is the meaning of "open to the charge of" ? Hello everyone, while doing some old IELTS exams, I found this sentence on the topic of insularity of English: "And non-English speaking countries were by no means exempt - although the widespread use of English as an alternative language made them less open to the charge of insularity " What does it mean "less open to the charge of insularity" here ? Thank you for your help
