What is the difference between "the wind is howling" and "the wind is whooshing"?

"Whooshing" is quieter than "howling". "Howling" suggests that the wind is so strong that it creates whistling sounds that sometimes sound like an animal or a baby screaming. "Whooshing" is simply white noise.
