A fare is money paid for travel - eg. taxi fare, air fare etc.
A fee is money paid for a service - eg. banking fee
A charge is also a fee (eg. bank charges), but that word is more often used as a verb - "How much do you charge?"
These are separate from the price of an item - you'd still say "the cost".
